RBD is a Latin Grammy nominated Mexican pop group that gained popularity from Televisa’s teenage-oriented soap opera “Rebelde” (Rebel). RBD has sold over 12 million albums worldwide in almost four years of career.
In October of 2005 came their second studio album, Nuestro Amor, produced by Carlos Lara which set new sales records in Mexico, selling 127,000 copies one the day of release, and 160,000 copies in its first week alone. In the U.S., the album topped the Latin Albums Chart for 3 weeks and again broke into the overall Top 100 (#88).
2006 brought RBD a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category “Best Pop Album by a Group or Duo” for “Nuestro Amor”.
In November 2006, they released their third studio album Celestial produced and directed by Carlos Lara which debuted at number 15 in the Billboard 200, marking first-week sales of over 137,000 copies in the U.S.
The first worldwide “RBD Day” was held on October 4, 2007. RBD celebrated the day with many fans in Houston, Texas, and during their press conference they confirmed that their fourth Spanish studio album will be titled Empezar Desde Cero.
At the end of 2007, They won an award in France for “Best International Song of the Year” for “Tu Amor”. In December 2007, the first season of RBD: La Familia was released on DVD in Mexico and Spain. (Taken from www.wikipedia.org)
