Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) was one of the best-known artists of his era: creator and proponent of the Art Nouveau style, a pioneer in the use of art in advertising and one of the founding fathers of modern graphic design. His posters and paintings were admired in Paris and imitated all over the world.
Mucha’s art aspires to beauty. His elaborate compositions bring theatrical and allegorical elements into play in order to create a mystical atmosphere closely linked to Symbolist poetry. (Taken from http://obrasocial.lacaixa.es & vr.theatre.ntu.edu.tw)
