The theme of the exhibition “Mirage City: Baghdad, from Wright to Venturi”, that is presented at the College of Architects of Catalonia, is the major architectural projects of King Faisal II’s 1950s Iraq.

The initiative to recover these projects came from Pedro Araza, a professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), and Spain’s ambassador in Baghdad, Ignacio Rupérez.

Architects of the standing of Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Josep Lluís Sert and Ricard Bofill were commissioned to produce the designs. (Taken from http://w3.bcn.es)

Lykke Li is a Swedish indie singer. She moved to New York for three months when she was 19, where she recorded her album, before returning to Sweden.

She released her first album, Youth Novels on LL Recordings in the Nordic region on February 4, 2008 and it received a wider European release in June, 2008. It was released in the United States on 6 May 2008. The album was released in the Republic of Ireland on June 6, 2008 and June 9 in the UK.

The exhibition shows the painter’s relation with the people in Cadaqués and the region of the Empordà. There is also an audio-visual assembly with 177 photographies that compose the collection.

The relation of the French photographer Descharnes with Dalí and Gala, began the winter of 1950 in Cadaqués. Since 1955 the photographer made long stays in this locality, which allowed him to accumulate an authentic photographic and filmed chronicle of Dalí.

Juan Luis Guerra isa Dominican singer, songwriter, and self-producer who has sold over fourteen million records worldwide and has won numerous awards, including ten Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, and two Latin Billboard Music Awards. He won five Latin Grammy awards in 2007 in the same night which ties him with Juanes to hold the record for most Latin Grammys won in one night.

He is one of the most internationally recognized Dominican artists in decades past. His pop style of Merengue and Bolero and Afro-pop/Latin fusion have garnered him considerable success outside the Dominican Republic.

Coldplay are a rock band formed in London, England in 1997. The group comprises vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Coldplay have sold 33.9 million albums, and are also known for their hit singles, such as “Yellow”, “The Scientist”, “Speed of Sound”, “Fix You”, “Viva la Vida” and the Grammy Award-winning “Clocks”.

Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of their single “Yellow”, followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Its follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) won multiple awards such as NME’s Album of the Year and was later included on Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, ranking at #473.

Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a slightly less enthusiastic yet still generally positive reception. The band’s fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely favourable reviews.
