The history of Down Home in Europe starts in the streets of Barcelona in Summer 2001. They have in their repertoire original tunes, making the audience enjoy swing, boogie, ska, blues and jump blues. But keeping also the classics, like Louis Prima or Louis Jordan, always with the particular ‘slide’ sound and the own arrangements of the band.

Enjoy their good live music at 23: 30h in Harlem Jazz Club, small bar in the Gothic quarter, at Carrer de la Comtessa de Sobradiel, 8.

“The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona’s Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya, made her debut in 1929 before king Alfonso XIII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inaguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuïc”

Fortuny, el mag de Venècia (Fortuny, The Magician of Venice) spans the artistic career of Mariano Fortuny, one of the most creative and innovative figures of the first half of the twentieth century. Still unknown to the general public, he was a multidisciplinary artist ahead of his time.

Fortuny’s work contains items from arts as diverse as painting, etching, stage design, lighting, photography, textile design and fashion.

With over 400 items, including photographs, film extracts and drawings, Federico Fellini. The Circus of Illusion reviews the creative process of one of cinema’s strangest imaginations, the director of films such as La Dolce Vita, 8 ½ and La Strada.

The exhibition is organised around typical Fellini themes, illustrating his obsession with women and religious symbolism and his interest in dreams and popular culture. Some unpublished documents are also on display, including the first colour stills from the shooting of 8 ½.

 Pennywise formed in 1988 in the south bay of Los Angeles in the same small coastal community of Hermosa Beach that produced three of the most infamous hardcore punk bands of all time, Black Flag, the Circle Jerks and the Descendents. The four band members, guitarist Fletcher Dragge, original bass player Jason Thirsk, drummer Byron McMackin and vocalist Jim Lindberg, began playing local backyard keg parties to increasing crowds, and with the help of friend Marc Theodore of Theologian Records, recorded a five song E.P. A Word from the Wise. A college radio DJ liked what he heard and gave it to Brett Gurewitz, guitarist and songwriter for L.A.
