The Garmin Barcelona Triathlon is one of the most popular Triathlon in Spain. In 2009 around 3500 triathletes from 24 countries registered for the event in Barcelona. The 2010 Barcelona triathlon is open to professionals and amateurs alike who compete in three different categories: super sprint, sprint and Olympic. Teams can compete in the sprint and Olympic categories.  In 2009 the event took place in the Sant Marti district of Barcelona.

BCN Design Week 2010 will be open from 18 to 22 October for its fifth edition of an positioned as a leading event for promoting and debating design and a date on the international calendar that can’t be missed.

Under the slogan “Facing New Challenges Through Design” BCN Design Week 2010 aims to make known the role of design as a key element of innovation and competitiveness both for businesses, professionals and institutions, and for entities and organizations of all industry and scope, at a time in which we are required to take full advantage of the products and services that we offer. 

Through the participation of diverse experts in the world of design and business, the assistants to this fifth edition will be able to learn, share and discuss various topics that mark the current agenda of the design and innovation sector, as Design Management, Co-Creation & Co-design, Design and Social Innovation or Mobile Design, among others.

The Cursa de la Merce is a popular 10 km fun run running event in Barcelona, which is part of the annual La Merce festival of Barcelona. About 10.000 runners are expected to take part in 2010.  The Cursa also features 2k route for disabled athletes. Runners can register online online until 20.00 on 13th September. (registration is in Catalan but you can use Google Translate for English version) In the weeks before the Cursa de Merce you will also be able to register at various locations in Barcelona. Festa Major starts in Sants district of  Barcelona it is absolutely worth visiting.  Many of the main activities take place in “Parque de la España Industrial” and 13 streets in Sants will be decorated by the residents with many entertaining themes. The Catalan actress Amparo Moreno open the festival on Saturday 21 August 21 at 20.00 in the evening at the “Parque de la España Industrial.” There will be many chances to see festivals traditions like correfocs – fireruns, castellers – human tower building, Gegants and capgrossos  - giants and other Catalan festival traditions. A highlight of the Sants Festa Major is the Sants Festival cycling race, called the Cursa Ciclista ‘Memorial Antoni Andrés Sancho‘  which takes place for the 29th time in 2010 on streets of Sants from 10:30 on Sunday 29 August 2010. A new running event premieres in 2010 called “El 2000 de SantsCursa atlètica de la Festa Major 2010” which is a 2k run (2 circuits of 1000 metres) also takes place on Sunday 29th August 2010 from 09:00. And finish the festival with a pyromusical evening on Sunday 29 August.

The Neighborhood Festival of Gracia, celebrated during the last half of August, is an incredibly well-organized and artsy local fiesta. Gràcia’s residents spend months planning parades, concerts, floats, arts & crafts activities and more. During the day, events are held in the area’s brightly decorated streets and squares. Acrobats build amazing human towers; performers dress up as giants and devils to express Catalan folklore.

At night, the Festa Major de Gracia inspires live music, dancing, fireworks and general partying outdoors. Best of all, it’s not just for those who live there: the whole city heads to Gràcia to join in the fun!
